An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Civil/Earthworks Supervisor to join Our Client’s Mining & Metals ERA Project team on a FIFO assignment based out of Jabiru, Northern Territory.
Your role will involve overseeing contractors, undertaking Geotextile installation, civil, bulk excavation and fill, and related activities within Pit 3 and surrounds.
This is a fly in/fly out roster (2 weeks on, 1 week off) out of Darwin – with a project supplied bus to the Jabiru work site, and camp accommodation provided.
Supervising and directing the civil contractors and subcontractors, and other workers assigned to your area, you will be responsible for the daily management of construction, site administration, and undertaking overview and control of all safety, quality, progress, schedule and cost controls.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership for safety on the project. This includes safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures and leading safety meetings.
• Inspect the site for any unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct breaches.
• Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
• Supervise and direct contractor(s) in a supervisor capacity within the civil and earthworks disciplines, and other areas and disciplines as required.
• Ensure the most current design documents are provided to subcontractors to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation
• Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
• Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labour and maintaining the three-week look ahead schedule for labour and equipment.
• Responsible for implementing project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
• Coordinate established area operational plans.
• Provide input to the preparation of the look ahead schedule and budget control with assistance from Project Controls.
• Provide input to quantity tracking application and report weekly installed quantities to Project Controls.
• Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
• Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for direct reports.
• Liaise, engage and communicate effectively with the Traditional Owners.
• Perform other duties as required by management such as back-to-back coverage with other Supervisors.
Qualifications and SkillsBasic Qualifications:
Recognized, relevant technical degree or certification, and/or extensive, demonstrated work experience in construction field.
Additional Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in civil/earthworks essential and experience in cross supervision highly advantageous.
• Extensive experience in construction of large projects, and able to undertake and administer small to medium capital projects.
• Extensive knowledge of Bulk Earthworks and associated earthmoving equipment management systems.
• Previous demonstrated experience with low ground pressure equipment and large-scale de-watering processes.
• Highly advantageous to have experience with geotextile installation and capping layers on tailings dams.
• Knowledge of close client secondment interaction, EPCM contract Management, and the Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s responsibilities.
• Knowledge of construction technologies & supervisory functions relating to field activities.
• Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and to a Zero Accident safety program or similar.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be computer-literate (e.g. Word, Excel and database applications).
• Demonstrated strong organizational and customer relationship skills.
