Mechanical Engineer

We are currently look for a mechanical engineer with the following attributes:

• Must have a building services HVAC design and condition assessment reporting background – specifically with experience in air conditioning systems.
• The person must be an experienced air conditioning/HVAC designer or qualified engineer. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in air conditioning systems/HVAC design is expected.
• Ability to provide high standard technical HVAC engineering reports.
• Experience in the use of CAMEL air conditioning heat load modelling software will be highly regarded.
• Ability to work independently to develop HVAC system designs and estimates using Excel standardised design tools.
• Experience in Life Cycle Analysis/Option Studies to determine most appropriate life cycle air conditioning system solutions.
• Able and willing to conduct metropolitan and regional site investigations into existing air conditioning installations and develop audit reports and estimates recommending upgrade solutions to Government partners.

These investigations may require the person to travel and stay in remote regional Queensland locations for up to 5 days. The investigations will also require the person to collect building and internal heat load data necessary of developing new systems designs.

• Ability to develop Terms of Reference to engage external consultants to design more complex systems and projects.
• Be prepared to provide assistance with the Procurement/Tendering process required for the engagement of external consultants and contractors.
• Ability to Review external consultant’s designs and tender documentation.

• Provide technical support and advice for projects in construction. This may include:

• Review of contract variations and RFIs claims.
• On-site inspections and reporting of mechanical services works.
• Review and report on designs submitted by consultants and D&C contractors.
• Be willing to work under the supervision and direction of the QBuild Project Managers.
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Professional software packages.
• Have high level verbal and written communication skills.
